Waukesha, Wisconsin – The owner of the Waukeegan Auto Auctioneers is looking to raise $10 million to help renovate the city’s historic Waukeston Building.
The Waukie City Council approved a new city-owned parking garage in March, and it’s hoped the $10-million renovation could add another 1,000 parking spaces and boost the city economy.
The city is also working to build a new hotel in the Wausau area, and the Waco City Council is working on a $1 million redevelopment of the historic town hall.
Auctioneers founder Steve Wilsons plans to spend the money on a hotel, new restaurants and other projects.
The project will also include an expanded parking lot and a new restaurant that will serve as the Waucas’ newest tourist attraction.
The auctioneers hopes the renovation will add a new element to the city, and that it will be a draw to visitors to Wauokee and surrounding areas.
The current Waukeesan Auto Auction is a unique event where the Waunakee-based auctioneers sell everything from cars to vintage and antique cars to motorcycles.
The new project is expected to bring in more than $2 million in revenue.
